Grandparents are some of our favourite customers. We've had them come back when the next grandbaby arrives, so the cousins end up with matching blankets in different designs.

If you're a new nan, pop, gran, grandad or whatever you've decided to be called, here are a few ideas for what to give.

Something that lasts

Parents get a mountain of stuff in the first few months, and most of it is outgrown fast. Grandparents are often the ones who give the thing that sticks around. A keepsake. Something that's still in the cupboard when the baby is 18.

A personalised blanket fits that well. It gets used in the early days on the play mat and in the pram, then for daycare, then on the couch on sick days, and eventually it goes in the keepsake box. Ours have the name on both sides, with a different design on each.

Something that's a bit of family

A gift with a story behind it means a lot. Ideas we love:

  • A book that was read to the parent when they were little, with a note inside.
  • A copy of a family recipe, written out by hand, for when the baby's old enough.
  • Old family photos, printed and put in a small album.

Help, honestly

The gift a lot of new parents want most from grandparents isn't a thing. It's a cooked dinner, a load of washing folded, or a couple of hours to sleep. If you're nearby, offering a regular "I'll come on Tuesdays" is gold.

Matching blankets for every grandkid

We love it when this happens. A grandparent orders a blanket for the first grandchild, then comes back for the next one, each in a different design. The kids end up with their own blanket that matches their cousins'.

If that's you, have a look at the full range in our personalised baby blankets collection. The Australiana is our best seller.

Posting it

If the grandbaby is interstate or overseas, we can post the blanket straight to the parents. Pop the parents' address in at checkout, and add a note in the order notes if you'd like a message included.
